Do You Know Oral Cancer’s Signs And Symptoms?

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA-Dr. Khalil “Dr. Sage” Saghezchi is urging people to learn the signs and symptoms of oral cancer and get routine screenings for the deadly disease because early detection could save a life.

“It’s the best way to catch oral cancer in the pre-cancer stage, when survival rates are highest, between 80 to 90 percent, and the side-effects of treatment are lowest,” the San Jose dentist says.

Approximately 37,000 people in the U.S. alone will be diagnosed with oral cancer this year, according to the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Facts and Figures research. That means more than a hundred new individuals each day, and oral cancer will claim the life of one person every hour of every day.

In an age where so many people undergo professional and over-the-counter teeth whitening treatments, it’s a good idea to consider long-term goals when choosing the proper veneer shade, said San Jose cosmetic dentist Dr. Khalil Sage. Porcelain veneers are thin sheets of porcelain that can be bonded to a tooth’s surface. Their color is permanent and cannot be altered by teeth whitening procedures.
