Dental Care Provider Discusses Eating Disorders’ Impact On Teeth & Restorative Options

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA - Dr. Khalil “Dr. Sage” Saghezchi wants to raise awareness about eating disorders and share a message of hope for those with teeth severely damaged because of their disorder.

“Eating disorders can be devastating to oral health with some changes to the mouth showing up within six months,” says Dr. Saghezchi, who is a san jose dental care provider.

Feb. 26 to March 3 was National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, a campaign to break down barriers to getting treatment for eating disorders.

There are several types of eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, which is characterized by self-starvation and excessive weight loss, and bulimia nervosa, which is a cycle of bingeing and compensatory behaviors such as self-induced vomiting. Anorexia and bulimia can be life-threatening illnesses that affect both genders and have a major impact on the entire body.
